BEN HERNANDEZ BRAY
BIO
With over 35 years in the entertainment industry, Ben Hernandez Bray has built a dynamic and respected career that spans acting, stunt performance, stunt coordination, second unit direction, and ultimately, a decade as a sought-after film and television director. By this point in his career, he has amassed more than 200 film and television credits across the board — a testament to his versatility, work ethic, and creative range.
Ben began his career in Hollywood as a stuntman and actor, quickly making his mark with a fearless commitment to craft and an instinct for storytelling through performance and action. His skill and leadership propelled him to Stunt Coordinator and Second Unit Director, where he honed his ability to shape high-intensity sequences that serve the story. These transitional years became the foundation for his move into directing — a natural evolution for a filmmaker with a deep understanding of performance, pacing, and visual storytelling.
Along the way, Ben was fortunate to learn directly from two influential mentors: David O. Russell (American Hustle) and Joe Carnahan (Narc). Their insights and creative guidance helped shape his artistic voice, sharpen his storytelling instincts, and solidify his transition from physical storytelling into full-scale directing.
As a director, Ben made his feature debut with El Chicano, starring George Lopez — a gritty, character-driven superhero film rooted in Latino culture and street-level authenticity. In television, he has directed over 40 episodes across a range of hit series, including CW’s Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Arrow; CBS’s S.W.A.T.; Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer; and one of CBS’s top-rated shows, Tracker. His episodes are known for blending cinematic scope with grounded emotional resonance, creating work that is both visceral and deeply human.
Currently, Ben is developing his second feature screenplay and multiple original television pilots, bringing the same dedication and creative vision that have defined his career.
Ben’s philosophy as a director is rooted in telling stories that are grounded, visceral, and real — narratives that connect emotionally and linger with the audience long after the credits roll. He strives to honor the words on the page while crafting intricate, engaging worlds where every scene invites the viewer’s involvement. For Ben, storytelling is about more than entertainment — it’s about creating moments that resonate, inspire, and stay with people.
